Rather unreasonably, this is not seen as an excuse not to have a ticket - a note in Italian only informs you that they must be purchased from the garage in Via Gaetano Salvemini, a good ten minutes walk away. The train station appears to be unmanned at least some of the time with no automated ticket machines.
